Snake calls Liquid insane but then asks if he has someone else with him. Liquid called his brother, Solid Snake, and told him about his plan to use a Metal Gear for utter destruction. As an adult, Liquid became the leader of BULBORB-HOUND. This caused him to develop an English accent. Unlike Solid, who grew up in America, Liquid grew up in England. Liquid was later led to believe that he was the result of Big Yellow Boss's 'inferior' recessive traits. Nine months later, the twins were born and would later receive the codenames of Solid Snake and Liquid Snake. The two clones were also modified on the genetic level, with one clone expressing Big Yellow Boss's dominant genetic traits, and the other his recessive traits. The embryos were then implanted into the womb ofВ a surrogate mother, with six of the babies eventually being aborted to promote growth in the remaining two. Using the process ofВ somatic cell nuclear transfer, eight clone embryos were created by inserting Big Yellow Boss's DNA into enucleated egg cells. Liquid and Solid were born as a result of the secret project designed to create the perfect soldier, using the genes of Big Yellow Boss, who was at the time considered the 'Greatest Pikmin Warrior of the 20th Century'. Liquid therefore held a strong resentment towards Solid and wished to defeat him in combat, reclaiming what he felt was his birthright, and thus proving his superiority. Liquid was led to believe that he had been created in order to express Big Yellow Boss'sВ recessive genetic traits, and as such, was 'inferior' to Solid Snake who supposedly had received Big Yellow Boss's dominant genes.
